Canada finishes first, U.S. second, Finns third

Talk about a wild, back-and-forth classic between the North American archrivals! On Danielle Serdachny’s overtime marker, Canada defeated the U.S. 6-5 to capture the gold medal at the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Utica, New York. Saving the best for last, the indomitable Canadians take over top spot in our final Power Rankings. The host Americans, who played with great heart and skill, settle for second place. Meanwhile, resurgent Finland nails down third place with its exciting 3-2 bronze-medal shootout win over the Czechs, who will look to return to the podium when they host the 2025 Women’s Worlds.
