Welcome to the first Power Rankings of the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Buoyed by the addition of superstar forwards Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon, Canada kicks off the tournament in top spot. The Swedes, looking to reprise their “home ice curse”-breaking gold medal run of 2013 in Stockholm, are right behind in second place. And the Czechs, eager to win consecutive titles for the first time since their three-peat of 1999 to 2001, hold down third place. Get ready for a fantastic hockey odyssey in Stockholm and Herning!
