During the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, short profiles of each of this year's Hall of Fame inductees will appear on IIHF.com in the build-up to the IIHF Hall of Fame weekend (May 24-25). There will be two ceremonies. The Contributors' Awards ceremony takes place on May 24, followed by the IIHF Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on May 25. Both ceremonies will be shown live on the IIHF's YouTube channel and IIHF.TV.

Jon Haukeland has been an integral part of the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association since 1982, when he was first hired as a sports consultant. He later became the first Sport Director in NIHA history, a position he held until 2008. He moved up to General Secretary, where he served until 2014. Since then, he has worked as a special advisor, focusing on player development from 2014 to 2019.

In addition to his decades of service with the NIHA, Haukeland has been active in the IIHF, sitting on a variety of committees between 1998 and 2016. His first role was with the Junior Committee in 1998 (until 2003), after which he sat on the Competition Committee (2003-08), Coaching Committee (2008-12), and Youth and Junior Committee (2013-16).

Haukeland has long been aware that the key to success at the national-team level is through player development, and it is that theme that has permeated all his work within Norway. He established the country’s player development program in the early 1990s and the Isbjorn project a decade later.

Over the course of his four decades, Haukeland has served as a team leader and general manager for countless Olympics, World Championships, and other international events, both senior and junior. Under his leadership, Norway has played in the top pool of the Men’s Worlds every year since 2006 and has made several important appearances at the World Juniors and Men’s U18 Worlds.
