Four teams, two games, three medals. We’re down to the final days of the U18, and the four teams remaining will be vying for the podium. First up, the semi-finals games on Friday in Frisco, which look like this:
  • 15.00/Canada (1) vs. Slovakia (4)
  • 19.00/United States (2) vs. Sweden (3)

Officials will be assigned tomorrow.

Canada has a 13-0 record against Slovakia all time, including a 9-2 victory last week.

The Americans defeated the Swedes, 6-3, last week as well. That game had some drama to it. Sweden led 2-0 in the first period and 3-2 in the second before succumbing to an impressive U.S. rally.

The losers of these two games will play on Saturday afternoon for the bronze medal. The winners go for gold Saturday night.

Last year Canada defeated the United States, 6-4, to win gold, while Sweden bested Slovakia, 4-0, for bronze. Could these matchups repeat again this year? Or will different pairings emerge? We’ll find out Friday night!
