The IIHF men’s Division 1B put the teams to a test as they played five games each, fifteen in total, in seven days to determine their ranking, and to see which team will get promoted to Division 1A, and which one would be relegated and regroup in Division IIA.

There were no great upsets in the tournament, but the final standings didn’t exactly mirror the IIHF world ranking. Korea entered the tournament as favorites, having been relegated to 1B for this year, and being the highest ranked (22) team in Tallinn. However, Lithuania, ranked 25, beat Korea 4-1 on the final day and went undefeated.

Korea finished second, and Estonia third.

Croatia, ranked 32, who had been promoted to Division 1B for this season, suffered a heartbreaking OT loss to Spain (30), and will return to Division IIA.

The tournament directorate also handed out awards at the end of the tournament.

  • Best goalkeeper: Laurynas Lubys, Lithuania
  • Best defenseman: Nerijus Alisauskas, Lithuania
  • Best forward: Sangwook Kim, Korea
