The Disciplinary Panel for the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World U20 Championship Divsion III Group A has issued a one-game suspension for spearing against Bosnia-Herzegovina defender Benjamin Vranesic, based on an incident that occurred in Monday’s game against Chinese Taipei.

The incident occurred at 41:18 (1:18 into the third period) in Game #2 of the tournament between Chinese Taipei and Bosnia-Herzegovina.

With his opponent on the ice and tied up with Vranesic standing above him, Vranesic used his stick twice with a spearing motion, making contact with a player in a vulnerable position on the ice, unable to defend himself.
After a formal hearing with Vranesic and a team representative present, the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World U20 Championship IIIA Diciplinary Panel has determined that Vranesic violated Official Playing Rule 62 – Spearing – and shall be suspended for one (1) game, in accordance with IIHF Disciplinary Regulations Article 10.5.

Vranesic will serve his suspension in Game #4, Bosnia-Herzegovina vs Thailand, on 20 January 2026.
