Unlike pro hockey, there are, of course, no trades in international hockey. However, the Americans and Canadians have traded places in our second Power Rankings of the 2025 IIHF Women’s World Championship. The U.S., which edged Canada 2-1 on Megan Keller’s goal en route to a perfect preliminary round record, takes over first place. Meanwhile, tournament scoring leader Marie-Philip Poulin and the defending champion Canadians slip into second place. Captain Michelle Karvinen’s Finns bounced back after two losses to the North Americans, beating host Czechia 4-2 and Switzerland 2-1, and thus remain in third place. The suspense is building in Ceske Budejovice and around the hockey world as we head into the do-or-die quarter-finals!
