2028 IIHF World Junior Championship will be held at Nokia Arena in Tampere and Gatorade Center in Turku from December 26, 2027, to January 5, 2028.
The previous IIHF World Junior Championship held in Finland was in 2016. The tournament ended with Finland's gold celebration, as Finland defeated Russia in the final game with an overtime goal by Kasperi Kapanen.
Finland has hosted IIHF World Junior Championship also in 1980, 1985, 1990, 1998, and 2004.
Finland and Latvia join forces – joint bid for the 2030 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship
Finland and Latvia, co-hosts of the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, are jointly bidding for the right to host the 2030 tournament.
The bid must be submitted to the International Ice Hockey Federation by January 12, 2026. The decision on the host will be made by the IIHF Congress during the 2026 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Switzerland.
Finland has hosted the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in 1965, 1974, 1982, 1991, 1997, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2022, and 2023. In Latvia the tournament has been played three times: in 2006, 2021, and 2023.
