Building a Hockey Club Community – The Jar IL Success Story
Speakers:
- Knut Henrik Spets, General Manager, Jar Idrettslag
- Quintin Bollue, Head of Ice Hockey, Jar Idrettslag | IIHF Learn to Play Instructor
In 2013, Jar IL had just 40 hockey members. Today, it is the second largest ice hockey club in Norway, with over 800 members, including 137 kids in the skating school. The club’s impressive growth is rooted in community engagement, inclusive programming, and strategic use of their self-owned ice rink—a central hub that welcomes over 8,000 visitors daily.
Jar IL is a multi-sport club offering ice hockey, figure skating, handball, wrestling, and curling. This webinar will explore how vision, leadership, and grassroots initiatives have built a thriving sports culture around the rink—and how other clubs can apply similar approaches to grow sustainably.
Following the presentation, we will also have a discussion with participants about this season’s webinar experience and how we can further improve the Skills4All webinars in next season.
We want to hear your suggestions on topics you'd like to see in the future and how we can continue to grow together.
